I agree. I read The Origin of Species the other day and I was baffled by how many people blindly believed in that rubbish. What really upset me was the story of the first two humans. What a coincidence. Just yesterday I was waiting for my PI to get back to his office and I picked up the origin from his bookshelf and started reading. It's surprisingly accessible even today, compared to other examples of Victorian prose. It's certainly not "wuthering heights."
