When is /sci/ going to recognize that philosophy is still highest academic field?
>spawned medicine
>spawned science
>spawned foundational mathematics
>spawned computer science
what amazing thing will philosophy do next?
Because philosophy is such a broad-ass term that it includes basically every field. On the other hand, what "philosophy" majors study are fields so shitty they don't have a real department (ontology, ethics, etc.).
You are really pushing it when you say philosophy spawned every academic field if you consider the history and usage of the word. Back then philosophy encompassed a whole range of academic disciplines and it's much different from the modern field. Philosophy, in its purest form is too broad to consider it some academic field. Everyone does "philosophy" because everyone can think, but obviously this isn't consider philosophy per se. The same way, philosophy nowadays it's pretty separated from the natural sciences even though both can complement each other.
