Why can't humans adapt and evolve into superheros when exposed

Because radioactivity makes your DNA go full retard, in some cases it actually makes your offspring better than you but those are really rare because radiation most common effect on cells is cancer or tumorous growths on your offspring.

There are a near infinite number of possible arrangements of elements or states of affairs, but only an infinitesimal sub-set of those are actually functional and sustainable (let alone great or exceptional).

Same reason for why most outbreaks of 'progress' or 'change' throughout history tend to regress states of affairs; the easiest way to change something is for the worse.

The comic book sense of radiation just doesn't exist. Although by nature mutation can be good or bad, you have to realize your genes are set up in a specific way to give you a product.

Like if you play a word-scramble game like Boggle and happen to have meaningful words in every direction, scrambling it isn't likely to get you the same words but better, or even actual words. You're probably just going to have nonsense.
