Are you one of those 'master race' guys? :^)
>>

Honestly, what is the benefit of using an operating system that is specific to your application?

And I mean it, it is a genuine question. Windows can run all the scientific software too so what specific benefits do you get from getting "scientist" operating systems?
>>
>>8496805
Ubuntu or debian. Distros are memes just pick something stable and apt-get everything else
>>
>>8496877
Because it is open source, objectively more secure than Windows or any Apple operating system.
>>
>>8496877
>Windows can run all the scientific software too
You fucking wish

>>8496910
This. Most important is good support, so I would avoid exotic distros.
>>
>>8496805
BSD because fuck communism.
>>
>>8496930
That's quite true, with some of the rarer distributions I've had trouble finding technical support or even information for a majority of issues. Though, it has improved me as a user, because I had to debug them myself. Every cloud, anon, every cloud.

Good shout.

>using Windows
>Doing actual work
>"Hey faggot, we're rebooting for updates. hope you're not doing anything important :^)"
>>
>>8496805
Just use arch.
Less hassle.
>>
>>8496991
My work computer runs windows.
Everyone in the office runs windows or both windows and MacOS.
The only things with linux are I think some of the servers.
>>

And get-apt everything I need?
