Im a non sciencefag here but going into college soon, i.e, Im a /sci/ virgin. What is this thing? What mathematics were done to complete it? Does it work, or will it become just another meme and the laughing stock of the /sci/ boards on every chan?
You're also a newfag because we already have 2 threads in the catalog for this.

Why don't you just read the paper.
>>8484686
No mathematics were done prior to its creation.
It's inventor created it by trial and error after noticing weird actions in a lab back in the late 90's while working on a completely unrelated project.
This is why everyone is pissed off.
Mathematics didn't predict the super simple EM Drive.
Congratulations Roger Sawyer for causing ulcers in the stagnant world of physics.
It creates thrust from the cascading torrent of butthurt science snobs permeating the memesphere
Does this thing actually work or is it just like that time a few years back when some scientists said they found something that can go faster than the speed of light?

There have been many tests done in several countries and they all resulted in the reported thrust.

Well NASA is wanting to put this thing in space to do further testing ASAP.
It now has the attention of scientists at NASA, so it could very well work or NOT. There just needs to be more peer-reviewed studies of it, and a study of the drive in space will provide a much clearer picture.
If it does what NASA wants it to do in space, then they're not going to give as much of a shit about its properties, but instead they're going to see what happens whenever you feed the system more power.
WE DON'T KNOW.
