So you can buy praying mantis eggs online. Would it feasible to raise a bunch and release them in public park in my town? Or at least raise them until the eggs hatch, and then release the young ones one by one?
Please advise---I want to introduce praying mantises to my town. They do live here and are native here, but they are rare. The eggs are easily obtainable online.

Giant green roaches
I've done this before
our garden store had the little egg pods for sale for like, $5 so i was like sure why not.
The babies are TINY, they easily fit through the top of the plastic cage we had (see pic, very common). They're quite fun to watch, they often playfight and then eat the loser. They ravenously swarm pieces of raw meat we left in the cage, very fun to watch like i said. They are great bugs, and very good for your garden to help keep pests away. They are a very low committment "pet" so long as you release them by the end of the season

Maybe some more info
each pod (1-2 in^3, round) had over 100 insects in it, easily. The population dwindled rapidly as they ate each other, but there was about 20 viable offspring a month or two in. Don't feel bad, they're r-type strategists, this is what they evolved to do.
They eat just about anything, meat, i'm pretty sure they ate fruit and veg too.

Thanks a ton for the info. What time of the year should I be buying eggs, and when is the "end of the season" that I should release them?
