Anyone here built anything close to a bioreactor?
When I was a kid I messed around with yiest a bit.
What do you want to do?
I want to build a low cost bioreactor that grows bacteria/yeast cultures... currently they are extremely expensive. Trying to understand why they are so expensive

probably because it's a special blend that is likely built/curated per order, and not a mainstream one that is mass manufactured and buyable at any supermarket

build it yourself; you can buy everything you need on ebay

During u grad, I worked with my cell/tissue eng prof on his bioreactor. We used CFD to measure different metabolic wastes on a synthetic heart valve grown in a bioreactor. Shit was cray

I've used sterilized 5gal plastic buckets from home depot with ambient temperature control and aquarium pump aeration as necessary.
It was high output in principle, though workup could often be a tedious challenge.
