The problem is not sitting down doing mathematics for hours.
The problem is feeling good while doing it.
I very rarely am absorbed (i.e. get in the flow) in whatever I do.
I can get interrupted without getting pissed and I'm generally a cool headed person.
Sort of anhedonia and mild depression.
While studying, I though of:
* stroking it or watching porn.
* creating and audio-file with a cute girl voice that tells me nice things.
* listening to music.
* eating.
* doing drugs.
Basically I want to associate mathematics with pleasurable to get more involved into it.
Things don't stick in my head because there's no feeling associated to them.
This post is serious and I hope some of you guys can help me extend this list.
>Things don't stick in my head because there's no feeling associated to them.
No, it's because you're dumb junkie.
>Sort of anhedonia and mild depression.
Great, another special snowflake.
Just get back to work and learn to enjoy solving problems.

Holy shit are you me?
Bump dude, I would love to hear some good answers to this

Try spending less time being idle in general first of all. If you're sitting down and you can be doing math and you don't want to do it, get up and go do something else. This will ease the anxiety effect.
Another thing you can try is eating your meals while you are working on something productive. There is a study that shows that it can help form the pleasurable associations you're talking about.
jack off to math

Practice mathematics.
There is no shortcuts.
Feel better doing mathemathics while listening to music/podcasts? Go for it, especially when having a large but repetitive task.
Just dont fool yourself into thinking that you can hack your own brains reward system, without engaging in the actuall work.
Dont spend more time thinking about how youre not able as opposed to actually doing it.
Dont think youre a lost cause either, tho.
It takes some time to get into the flow of things, start small and easy (dont underestimate this point).
Sauce: my own experience in programming. probably applies well enough
don't need to practice math because you have computers doing it for you and you just need to know there to plug in the numbers. unless you are paying $50,000 like a chump to be tested on shit that's already known that may or may not give you an opportunity to work as a intern then later rejected because there are people willing to be payed less for doing the same work, then practice. Youll forget it within the holiday break.

this.
op's wasted himself for ephemeral pleasure

What works for me is to turn on music (mostly without vocals) and use a bord because I'm much mor concentrated standing and walking around.

Oh man, this works so well for me, especially with some warm black coffee.

I've never smoked cigarettes.
I've never smoked weed.
I've no problem figuring out things.
You know about flashbulb memory?
My flash is usually very dim.

Nice. I'll look into this.

>Practice mathematics.
Ok. I hope things get better.
I can go for a month studying for most of the day, but still I don't fell pleasure.
Instead, I feel guilty if I lose time.

The blackboard works for me as well, but that's not much about rewarding.
How far are you in your studies?
If you're still studying fairly basic mathematics, it's obviously not very rewarding because the basic problems are dry and simple and even still they can take effort.
