How did we have the technology to send people to the moon in 1969? How did 47 year old computers control the launch and maneuvers that were necessary? We sent people to the moon 47 years ago, and 47 years before that people were driving Model T's. It's just crazy
>>
>>8460080
Shitton of manual computation.
>>
see that flag moving in the wind?
that vacuum moon wind?

well guess what
>>
>>8460138
Are you talking about how the flag is upright instead of just fallen over? Well that's because there was a horizontal pole going through the top of the flag to make it stay like that
>>
>>8460151
there are official videos where you actually see it moving like there's wind
>>
>>8460080

Model Ts are pretty impressive, don't knock them.
>>
>>8460224
It's moving because of the rotational momentum imparted when it was plunged into the ground, and the lack of air resistance stopping it from swinging. It doesn't last for very long after it's planted though.
>>
>>8460080
The 1960s were not a stone age.

The WW2 B-29 Stratofortress had remote controlled turrets.

Just because you are stupid now, does not mean that people were stupider 50 years ago.
>>
>>8460080
Getting to the moon isn't hard. With the right understanding of orbital mechanics, you could get there based on a "That looks about right" approach.

Fortunately for Apollo 13, we had instruments to precisely determine position and velocity.
>>
>>8460080
>inb4 tinfoilfags
>>
It's not hard to go to the moon. And for 3 days of the month the earth's magnetic field protects the moon. So they could even survive the trip.

But no human has ever left the earth's magnetic field. If one did it would die in a few hours from radiation poisoning. That's why we ain't went to Mars yet.
>>
>>8460080

A11 work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
>>
>>8460273
You are so fucking stupid it causes me physical pain.

Look up exactly what the radiation is in alpha/beta/other and its strength in millisieverts and how that compares to safe dosages.

Also note that alpha/beta radiation is negated by all but the thinnest spacecraft skin.
>>
Wasn't really a matter of technology by the time of the moon landings, just a matter of safety and mathematics.

Pretty much the same thing now with regard to mars, only no one wants to pay for it because it will cost hundreds of billions of dollars and accomplish absolutely nothing and have no return in the short term.
>>
>>8460292
Anon >>8460273 was repeating a shitty meme joke.
>>
It was back when the US was a white country without the marxist diversity garbage
>>
>>8460373
He's got a point. Moon landing America was 85% white, that percentage cratered shortly after
>>
>>8460256
You are using big words that sound all sciency and stuff. The foil-heads get scared away by those.
>>
>>8460080

Because computers didn't do the piloting, people did. Ever play kerbal space program? Someone sat there an issued commands (via electronic switches) to thrusters and engines.
>>
>>8460138
>see that flag moving in the wind?
No, anon, this is a still photograph.
>>
>>8460373
You might want to rethink that considering the soviet union beat the americans to all space goals but the moon landing, and were fairly close to that one as well when they started to collapse. All that on a much tighter budget and with loads and loads of literal marxism.

>>8460564
Also zero percent actual white people in russia.
>>
>>8460373
>>8460564
moon landing was LITERALLY done by america being AS COMMUNIST AS THEY COULD.

Le ebin state manipulating everything directly going against the free market.

It is now that its purely capitalistic that they dont think about inspired goals anymore.

too bad they starved out the soviet union which had lower levels of real poverty indicators like child malnutrition and education. now that communism is gone no one dreams, everyone just works a lot for relatively llittle money to make idiot rich people richer
>>
>>8461073
>any government initiative equals communism
>>
>>8461107
at that scale yes, its the two opposite poles

more state intervention
less state intervention

united states claims free market its good

but everything good on the united states comes from state intervention

the american dream comes from post 1930 keynes ideas
>>
>>8460138
fuck sake, you just fucking broke me.
>>
It's because physics is actually really trivial and easy to do. This is why we shouldn't idolize physicists so much ie le black science man, cucku, the wheelchair dude, etc.
>>
>>8460138

>perfectly horizontal top edge and perfectly vertical left side
>crinkled bottom and right side

it almost looks as if there are some kind of rods holding it up huh like some kind of frame
>>
You can thank the Nazis.
>>
>>8460267
>With the right understanding of orbital mechanics, you could get there based on a "That looks about right" approach.
That and a shitload of surplus delta-V.
>>
>>8461127

yeah when you can disregard atmosphere physics and orbital mechanics are easy as fuck

the only really challenging part is getting the fuckin things back to ground on earth but they had that nutted out by the time the apollo missions rolled around
>>
>>8461036
>the soviet union beat the americans to all space goals but the moon landing

Except the first:
Solar satellite
Communications satellite
Weather satellite
Polar satellite
Orbital photo
Satellite recovery
Human piloted spaceflight
Spacecraft to return with human on board
(i.e true spaceflight)
Spaceplane
Geosynchronous satellite
Piloted orbit change
Mars flyby
Rendezvous
Docking
Crew Exchange
Rover
Orbit of another planet
Solar escape
Crossing of the asteroid belt
Gravity assist

Among others
>>
>>8460080
Most of the challenge was making sure nothing broke
>>
For fuck sake, it should be a sticky that the moon landings are fake. All of them. Patriotism and whitewashed history is the only thing that causes cognitive dissonance. People can easily believe that local police, the church, politicians, and even the FDA can be bought off and work under fraternities (and they do) but it's an absurdity that lies and corruption can't go into the academics and sciences as well? Better smart the fuck up kids because one of the reasons why you are going to be disappointing is because you were fed a bunch of bullshit from the beginning and sheltered from the worst of humanity.

Just look at the entire press conference of the first one and you can tell they're lying under duress:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBhzRY6UuVA

NASA worker Thomas Baron Train crash, made accusations before Congress about the cause of the Apollo 1 fire, after which he was fired. Six days after his testimony, Baron was killed instantly, along with his wife and stepdaughter, when a train crashed into their car near their home in Florida.

William Charles Kaysing asserted that during his tenure at Rocketdyne he was privy to documents pertaining to the Mercury, Gemini, Atlas, and Apollo programs, arguing that one does not need an engineering or science degree to determine that a hoax was being perpetrated.

Gus Grissom, Apollo 1 astronaut, hung a fucking lemon on the test module.
>>
>>8460080
easy, you had german engineers.
>>8461139
>Spacecraft to return with human on board
your list is silly, sometimes false or a minor achievement. But this one i dont even understand.
>>
>>8461136
>That and a shitload of surplus delta-V.
really? what was their delta v budget?
>>
>>8461156
doing gods work anon.
/thread
>>
>>8461156
>d be a sticky that the moon landings are fake. Nah breh, i hate the us. but hte moon landings were legit.

all of it checks out ALL OF IT
>>
>>8461110
More does not equal total. To your logic even the DoD is a communist strong hold.
>>
>>8461156
Oh, some fag on /sci/ says it looks like theyre lying and some people have died and stuff

Guess moonlanding is fake afterall
>>
You underestimate what slow processors can do because you compare that to the computers of today.
Nowadays we use the equivalent of what would have been supercomputers 20 years ago mostly for some nice icon animations and bloatware.
>>
>>8460080

I don't understand this meme, not even when Hitler himself pushed it.
>>
>>8460263

This is really cool. Thanks anon.
>>
>>8460273
please no one listen to this faggot. he Knows Nothing.
>>
Why does everyone think the moon landings were faked? I had no idea it was such a ridiculously widespread belief until my entire family told me that they thought it was fake.
>>
>>8462256
Well Hitler's strain of German nationalism emphasized the superiority of the Germanic race, which goes beyond simply being "white". The Slavs (Russia's dominant ethnic group), just like the Irish, Romany, or Italians, were not considered "white".

Russia's affinity for the Slavic peoples of Europe helped cause World War I. The Balkan states were at that time controlled by Austria-Hungary, who were really quite shitty to the disparate ethnic groups of the region. The Austro-Hungarian/German alliance was quite strong, and when the Balkan states rose in revolution against Austria-Hungary, the Russians in solidarity with their Slavic Brethren declared war on Austria-Hungary and Germany.
>>
>>8462348
gypsies are not white or european at all..
thats not an opinion, thats fact.
>>
>>8461158
>But this one i dont even understand
Until then no spacecraft had been launched with a human occupant and returned to the ground with that occupant still inside it

Also which ones are silly or minor, and if they were so silly and minor why couldnt the soviets do them first?
>>
>>8462446
Is this refering to how Gagarin and the others had to eject and parachute down?
>>
>>8462476
Ya
>>
>>8460080
We started tolerating this shit.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwZ651i5vls

When we literally tear down and shit all over the very science that has built our modern society, don't be surprise if the achievements of the past become part of the memory of a bygone era. Technology just as lost to us as Roman architecture was lost to the Europeans of the Dark Ages.
>>
>>8461135
>Godwins Law
Came a little fast in this thread.
>>
>>8460080
We probably didn't. It was made up to channel and focus resources into constructing the surveillance society we now have become.
>>
>>8462886
Yeah. It was all a big guise to focus money to build spy satellites and develop communications and technology for spying.

>How did we have the technology to send people to the moon in 1969
you do realize that the SR71 was designed and built a decade earlier that that using sliderules for the calculations
>>
>>8462890
Well mostly it was to develop technology for doomsday devices
>>
>>8460080
>How did we have the technology to send people to the moon in 1969?
It was done by preplanned timing of each events. Only time they had to re-do that was when Apollo 13 got into trouble.

Also Soviet did this, pic very much related.
>>
The most rational explanation is the whole thing was real apart from the descent from lunar orbit. That bit was way too risky and there was no real way to test the technology. So yea other people on earth tracked apollo to the moon and back but the landings were pre filmed on earth and broadcast while all 3 astronauts stayed in lunar orbit.
>>
>>8462348
>The Slavs (Russia's dominant ethnic group), just like the Irish, Romany, or Italians, were not considered "white".

Slavs were considered white, they were even considered Aryan (indoeuropean), they were not considered übermensch though. However after WW2 which according to Hitler was the war to determine the true übermensch, they actually are.

Romany are Indians.
>>
>>8465291
Unmanned probes had been soft landed on the moon before the first manned mission, it wasnt completely new territory

Also there are photos of the landing sights, at the absolute very least there was a robotic landing for every successful apollo mission, pic related
