Team behind the CZ-5 space rocket

These are the 1980s-1990s born generations which have no college debt and love to buy smart phones and DJI drones, dubbed as "little emperors" by western mainstream corporate media and said to be incompetent, scientific frauds and a reason for China's downfall.

Where is that collapse now, western faggots? Where is it?

Running on copied Soviet engines.

This would have been very impressive in, say, 1970. Now it's just a matter of spending the money.

>Where is that collapse now, western faggots? Where is it?
This sort of big, wasteful vanity project is a symptom of China's decadence. A serious misallocation of funds for what is still a very poor and weak country, which lives hand to mouth on the proceeds of renting out its population as a slave pit and its countryside as a pollution toilet, while its elite steals and embezzles at every opportunity to buy foreign-made luxuries and buy their way into the First World.

China hasn't grown out of the Maoist model of incompetent exploitation, where each level of its elite hides problems from those above. It's just an easier world for the incompetent and corrupt to live in now, thanks to the West's technology, and the West's own decadence and corruption.

Project Tengyun is the most ambitious of the all, aiming to develop a two-stage, horizontal take-off and landing (HTOL), reusable spaceplane system by 2030. The first-stage aircraft will carry the orbiter to fly to an altitude of 30-40 km, where the orbiter is released and then uses its own power to enter the orbit. Upon completing its mission, the orbiter will re-enter the Earth atmosphere and land on the runway.

Hah! "We made some changes, that means it's not a copy!"

Now there's a Chinese attitude if ever there was one.
>>
>>8453187
HTOL means "horizontal takeoff and landing". That's not a picture of an HTOL craft.

They're basically at the same stage of talking about things as NASA was in the 60s, which eventually resulted in the space shuttle.

When you hear someone today talking about an aerospace project that won't deliver results until the 2030s, it's a fair bet that they're not really planning to ever deliver results. The senior people involved know they'll be able to retire before any deadlines hit.

Not that guy but the Chinese are basically building a Skylon clone.

It seems like a fairly solid concept to me - the initial acceleration of any launch is the hardest part and jet engines are much more efficient in that regard than rockets, so why NOT accelerate like a motherfucker while you're still in the atmosphere and can take advantage of it?

lmao and here in the west idiots complain that women only make it into STEM because of affirmative action. Women really do belong in STEM over men.
Even in China where men greatly outnumber the women, women still come out on top. These are the types of things that get you thinking about your true place in this world. It kinda makes sense though becuase women have always been the nurturers of humanity

>>
>>8453230
The Tengyun idea is less like Skylon, and more like an early space shuttle concept.

Rather than some fancy new engine, they're talking about taking off with rather conventional jet power, then transitioning to ramjet mode (thus far, like the SR-71, a 60s aircraft), and finally activating a rocket to lift it out of airbreathing altitudes (like the NF-104, another 60s aircraft), before releasing an upper stage capable of gliding re-entry.

Unlike Skylon, the first stage isn't very mass sensitive.

The trouble with this kind of system, and the reason it has never been developed, is that it would be a large vehicle, likely expensive to develop with many years of problems, which would launch a small payload, and only to LEO. It's a plausible path to efficient reusability, but a long and costly one.

>>
>>8453278
even if you had to do stuff like launch 5-10 tons at a time to LEO
Full reuse would still be an order of magnitude or two cheaper than expendable rockets

Imagine what the shuttle could have actually been...
>>
>>8453270
>most of the Chinese scientists are women.
Not exactly.
>Gender disparities in science and engineering majors in Chinese universities have received increasing attention from researchers and educators in China in recent years. Using data from a national survey of college students who graduated in 2005, this study documents gender disparities in enrollment and academic performance in science and engineering majors, and explores gender disparities in initial employment experiences of science and engineering graduates. It finds that females lag far behind males in enrollment in science and engineering majors overall. However, females actually are more represented than males in some majors such as mathematics and chemistry though the reverse is true for other science and engineering majors. Also, in science and engineering majors, females perform better than males in both general course grades and in English competency tests. Male science and engineering graduates have a clear advantage over their female counterparts in initial employment after graduation: they have a high employment rate, a higher starting salary, and are more likely to be employed in such jobs as business management and technical specialist. The male advantage in employment rate and starting salary persists even after controlling for other factors.

But I agree that men both occupy whatever is thought of as prestigious and at the same time glorify whatever they are doing more.
>>
>>8453310
>Full reuse would still be an order of magnitude or two cheaper than expendable rockets
That depends on a lot of things. A reusable system of unremarkable engineering could end up costing a hundred times as much to develop as an expendable system to carry the same payload. Then it could cost twenty times as much to build a vehicle, routine inspections and maintenance between flights and other ground operations for this much-larger vehicle could cost one fifth as much as an expendable vehicle, and it still blows up 2% of the time on launch and 2% of the time on recovery.

What a reusable system needs is exceptional engineering, like what SpaceX aims for: a system that costs less to develop than equivalent expendable rockets made by others, and less to build than a equivalent expendable rockets made by others, and then it flies a hundred flights with little to no maintenance.

Ignoring what design the YF-100 is based on, I like their strategy of using just two kerosene engine models for their entire line of launchers. They will very quickly accumulate flight history that way.

LM-6: 1 YF-100, 1 YF-115 upper
LM-7: 4 YF-100 boosters, 2 YF-100 core, 4 YF-115 upper
LM-5: 8 YF-100 boosters, 2 YF-77 core (Hydrogen), 2 YF-75 upper (Hydrogen)

The Americans landed one probe on Venus, which continued to operate for 45 minutes, but it was not designed as a lander, so it gathered little useful information.

The Soviets have given us the only pictures taken from the surface of Venus.

There isn't really any good reason to land on venus, it's a high gravity molten oven on the surface with an insane atmospheric pressure.

The reason the US sent ballons, is because the clouds in venus roughly 40km up are not to bad, you could in theory live comfortably up there without a pressure suit. all you would need is an O2 supply and a chemical suit to survive the constant acid rain.
