i just listened to a guy that said Ancient Egypt had scientific theories more advanced than Einstein's General Relativity
is he right
Did he explain why?
I think so.
He's talking about shit he has no idea about.

Yeah. That is the common misconception - people tend to say Egyptians did this, done that, knew this and that. Thing is it was no Egyptians, but Ayyys who told/taught them how to use advanced technology/science.

Nope, it's a we-wuz kangz-teir meme. The Egyptians were fairly poor mathematicians
t. made a detailed study of the Rhind papyrus, one of the best extant examples of ancient Egyptian mathematics, wrote at length about it, including 80% of the wiki, thereby becoming conversant in the actual content of ancient Egyptian mathematics, which is middle-school-tier at the most.

They were quite primitive mathematically, but ancient Egyptians (the elite scribes, anyway) were at least very competent at adding fractions correctly, which is more than can be said for the average person on the street nowadays. Their trouble is that they insisted on representing rational numbers as Egyptian fractions, which are finite sums of unit fractions, with each term (usually) having a different denominator. Naturally this (composing multiple terms, every such term having a different denominator) is an extremely inefficient way of representing number.

> Why do many people think ancient cultures had greater science than today
It isn't "many" people. It's just that the handful of kooks who believe that just have to tell the world about it.
More generally, /x/-tier shit revolves around believing that you know "secrets" that the sheeple don't.
Because WE WUZ EINSTEINS N SHIET

Who were better at mathematics between the Egyptians and Greeks?
Did General Relativity require more advanced mathematics than what the Egyptians were capable of?
>>8448154
The egyptians were fine mathematically for their time. The thing is everyone back then was poor by our standards. The egyptians were the most advanced civilization on earth at their peak.
And no they did not have knowledge that surpassed our current knowledge

The greeks peaked thousands of years after the egyptians.
And the greeks were the most advanced civilization scientifically of the ancient era and weren't surpassed fully till the renaissance

well to be fair the Arabs during the islamic golden age did surpass them
and India as well
>>8447898
People like mystery and shit. Same reason people are into aliens and kooky conspiracy theories. It has nothing to do with racial nonsense like some of the faggots on here will spout.

>well to be fair the Arabs during the islamic golden age did surpass them
This is a popular meme that somehow entered into popular culture...
The Muslims simply translated the Hellenic teachings after they had sacked and destroyed the Hellenistic civilizations of the Levant, Anatolia and North Africa.
