I used to think like OP but since I learned that the university gives monetary and opportunity privileges to those who have a score higher than 2.5 (in a 0 - 3 scale) like giving you a monthly pay and have you travel to important events that have to do with your field I started being ok with brainlets because as I have a score of 2.8 I will be the one getting that free money and free travelling that I know this university could not afford if it didn't have so many brainlets funding it.

So to every brainlet who browses sci, thank you my man. Thanks to you I will travel to Japan and Europe in the later half of my degree for free.

I do agree that the push for every single person to get a college degree is dumb, but there are benefits to having a more educated populace - I.e. more talent is discovered, socioeconomic reason 1,2,3, etc.

Government and schooling should work on developing more trade schools, too. We need skilled mechanics, bakers, woodworkers, electricians, etc. just as much as we need college-educated individuals. In fact, I would argue we need aforementioned trades a lot more than we need history, philosophy, etch majors.
