Is it possible to go from, say, pre-algebra to calculus without a high school or university education?
Is learning math without the aid of an educational facility possible?
Would it take less time? More time?
Calculus is easy
Of course it's possible.
But why in the fuck would you only wanna stop at calculus?
If you can do algebra well you can learn Calculus pretty easily
calculus is just fancy algebra
Yes, professors are basically just there to regurgitate what the books say and give you grades for a degree. It's faster to learn yourself from textbooks, just find the right textbooks.

I asked this because I've been learning calculus on my own but back in high school all the math teacher would rant bout how I could never learn outside of school ( not me specifically but like people in general)
It's disturbing that they said that to me.
Sometimes you may find a particular structure or mathematical object really difficult to understand for you.
This can make you really upset or make you lose interest.
In that case... An other person may be useful for speeding up the understanding. But for the rest a good book and some good work can be more than enough.

they were using dark arts to get you to focus. whether or not the claim is true, your belief in it is what's relevant to your effort in school. you are right to discard the belief after leaving school though.

>Is it possible to go from, say, pre-algebra to calculus without a high school or university education?
Yes
>Is learning math without the aid of an educational facility possible?
Yes, unless you count the internet or a book as being an 'educational facility'
>Would it take less time? More time?
Might take a bit longer, but why does it matter? If you have the motivation, that's what is important. But having a teacher to ask can be helpful.
Anything is possible you just have to be willing to work hard. Textbooks, internet, etc. it's not hard. Theres also resources for great math textbooks on the /Sci/ forum.
Yes.
Precalculus - Axler Algebra and Trigonometry
Calculus - Thomas Calculus or Spivak Calculus
Everything before Precalc - Sal Khan

based on your motivation, it may or may not be faster than a public school education.
