The reason we aren't hearing anything is because intelligent life is incredibly rare. It takes trillions and trillions of steps to go exactly right for life to evolve into a civilization species.

Its not a paradox. The universe can be brimming with life and they would have no reason to be interested in earth

tl;dr: There are so many possible explanations, and so little reason for us to expect to see any E.T.s that it's a complete non-issue.

Even if they would be, it would not be for the material resources, as many argue, since there are plenty other galactic bodies which have enough resources to farm.
If an extraterrestrial advanved life form would be interested in humanity i can only believe that the reason for this would be either enslavement of a somewhat intellectual race or simply for entertainment purposes.
Lastly, these species could be studiying us as intelligent lifeforms.

Maybe intergalactic travel really isn't as possible as sci-fi makes us think it is.
But we'll be damned if we dont try to get there anyway.

Like, it's been 60~ years since we started trying to contact other lifeforms in the Universe. If they were 30 light years away we would be getting back a message from them right now. 30 light years is nothing. Give it some time.

You'd need to fly a ship at 670 million miles per hour for 30 years to cover that distance. "nothing" isnt quite how id describe that.
