His by far largest accomplishment is that he couldn't stop eating, which lead to his early death.

But von neunmann was interested in universal things, in what computers can do in general, how do you manage them and so on. Now we take it for granted, we are so get used to all basic things about computers but at the time no one could think of all that complexity. Basically he was the inspirer of modern computer science as we know it.

All that math shit is nice, but his real accomplishments were his contributions to Cold War strategy and foreign policy, much of which is still classified to this day.
