hypothetically could you convince a child that they died in Stalingrad in 1943 and have them believe that for the rest of their life?
>>
we can partially erase memories but we can't place them yet. i'm sure we'll get there though
>>
Well you can teach millions of jewish kids that they have met Josef Mengele. It shouldn't be much more effort.

Have a living person believe they are in fact dead?

Would take much cognitive dissonance, senpai. With a child, you'd have their plasticity and stupidity to your advantage though, so.... good luck!
>>
Depend on how you define "believe".

Something so obviously wrong and impossible is very easy to "un-learn".

Even if you brainwashed the kid for a couple decades I'm pretty sure that a year after being released they'd know the truth.

Talking cannot replicate/replace experiencing.

If you emulate enough convincing experiences (ie via a brain control interface and simulations, currently impossible as far as we know, but theoretically possible) then the child would be 100% convinced. It's like implanting memories, only done the easy way.

>implying religion is easily unlearnt

We convinced the entirety of Western civilization that the holocaust was real, so sure.
>>
It's called past life regression hypnosis. They stopped doing it because, exactly like OP said, they were accidentally implanting false memories into the subject.

Hello /pol/, how's it going?
>>
>>8241919
huh nah not really

Many people don't believe in it, plus there exists more contradictory evidence than supporting. The only thing we manged to do is make it illegal to think about in Europe.

>but we can't place them yet

It really depends on the person,

https://faculty.washington.edu/eloftus/Articles/sciam.htm

>all these people confusing lies with experienced false memories ITT
>>
>"you died in 1943."
>"But it's 2016 and I'm alive."
>"Not it's not. You died in 1943 i-i swear"
>"But it's clearly 2016 and I'm alive. Moooom some weirdo pedophile is bothering me get him away from me!"

At this point OP gets arrested.
