Basically this. Psychology is so full of horeshit like it pushes something like "x is 20% more likely to do this than y" as irrefutable fact, conveniently ignoring selection bias in their samples.

To be fair, lots of those sorts of statement are from the media, rather than the psychologists themselves. If you compare media reports of psychological studies with the actual studies themselves, there are often huge and significant differences. Psychologists are now starting to receive media training on how to prepare a press brief, so that this sort of thing doesn't happen so often. Also, every good psychologist is aware of the biases within their samples, and what the limitations of their results are.
