Why distant objects looks smaller? Can you answer that /sci/?
>>
>>8161197
this is one of the unsolved problems in physics
>>
>>8161197
why do we have 3d vision when we only have 2d images
>>
>>8161197
>He doesn't have orthographic vision

lol git gud scrub.

Anyone?

Because the closer something is to you the more important it is to you.

Objects get smaller the further away they are because their visual angle decreases. The visual angle of an object is the angle subtended at the eye by a triangle with the object at its base.

I drew you a picture to explain
>>
>>8161342

because the back of your eye is curved, not flat

No, it's because God trolls you, lek

Why's everyone pretending to hold it up and not to knock it down.
>>
>>8161197
It's because
1) the angle that contains the object is smaller and
2) light usually travels in straight lines

2 is not true for example if you're trying to fish a crab in the ocean or looking too deep into the bottle..

Why photons fly directly to the observer. Do they have consciousness?
>>
>>8161790
>Why photons fly directly to the observer.
Fermat's principle
>>
>>8161832
>why that phenomenon occurs
>it's because of %name of that phenomenon%
nice explanation

How! That building is falling over. He's a hero!
>>

>>8161925
what the fuck is this.

OP, do you think the photons fly directly to the observer ONLY?!
>>
>>8161925
That's not the name of the phenomenon. it's the variational principle
>>
>>8161940
>Do they have consciousness?
This is why we can't have nice things.
>>
>>8161971
Photons do have consiouness. That explains the cosmological redshift too. Not only do they directly fly to the observer, they lose some 'weight',energy , too to be more attractive to us.
>>
>>8161991
They don't fly just to the observer, they radiate in whatever direction they diffracte or radiate from. It's why everyone/thing can see said objects not just one singular person.

We don't have 3d vision, it's 2d with depth perception. With 3d you'd be able to see an object from all sides
>>
>>8161790
How questions are asked?
>>
>>8163682
Keep spamming friend.
>>
>>8161365
This picture should include the lines that make up the eye's full view range as well, to show how the objects actually look smaller.
>>
>tfw I lost my left eye when I was still in the hospital and grew up without any sort of depth reception.

I was a pitcher in high school too.

perception = angular math. look up geometry.
>>

Fucking tourists, so original. Cringe level: max
>>
>>8163899
I was going to draw those in but I was drunk and that was about all I could be bothered doing. Besides it gets the point across; the further away an object is the smaller the angle, which means the object looks smaller
>>
>>8161790
There are more photons than any of us can comprehend. You are seeing an incredibly small fraction of photons that bounce at exactly the right angle to hit your eye.
