glitches in the matrix

So lets design a scientific way to try and observe this.

How would you do this? Have a bunch of people memorize a bunch of random things and check on them all periodically and then record the number of reported 'changes' every so often and compare the percentage of reported changes over time to see if there are any explainable spikes in the number of reported changes? Because of course its entierly plausible and inevitable that people will just remember things wrong, but if a bunch of people suddenly inexplicably remember a bunch of different things wrong at the same time, then its evidence of something?

It is essentially impossible to experimentally prove.

There are two camps to sit in, that this is real or this is fake.

in the real camp:
- We have no way to prove it.
- There is no way to really know if we could prove it.

in the fake camp:
- This is a gaslighting attempt.
- Shills are posting this to degrade, slide and deny scientific discussion on this board.
- People are really stupid and confusing themselves in an internet form of mass hysteria.

Lets say we took 5 thousand people and assigned each of them 4 different things to remember. Mundane things. Their job was to remember these 4 things, and every week check to make sure those 4 things are unchanged and report their findings.

A certain number of things would be reported changed every week just because the minds faulty like that. But if we are going along at a fairly stable rate of 'change', and then all of a sudden one week the number increases 5 to 10 times...

That wouldn't really be proof of this thing specifically, but it would be damn peculiar and probably mean something, right?

Here's a hypothesis-

Thanks to Netflix making it easy, more people are now watching these movies with subtitles on. Lines that were commonly misheard are now accurately read.

And as far as the "Luke, I am your father" thing, that movie came out before home video was big. If you wanted to watch ESB, you had to wait for a showtime and waddle on down to a theater. After a few weeks it just wouldn't be shown anymore. So it's easy to see how a misquote could become a pop culture meme, when you'd need a photographic memory to not be fuzzy on the details.

Why the need to resort to a glitch "theory" when human mistakes exist? If you look at the sky one day and say "It is blue" but later on see that it is orange, its not a damn glitch, it is a sunset.
