What are we going to do when this is all gone? Is there a way to synthesize more that's less ridiculously expensive and complicated than a fusion reactor?
>>8123104
Maybe we'll have figured out fusion by the time we run out of helium.
>>8123104
It is also a major greenhouse gas. All those party balloons? Great fun until you realise that the helium is floa ting up and combining to provide a heat absorbing layer. Bloody kids.
>>8123222
Helium is not a greenhouse gas. Carry on.
>>8123104
Nucleosynthesis of noble gases is obvious enough if you know where to extract the substance from the earth.
>>8123104
The fact that we are literally throwing into space this fundamental element for the sake of balloons is just about the stupidest thing humanity is currently doing.
After we've depleted all of the helium, future generations will look back on what we are doing now as one of the stupidest things humanity has ever done.
By the time we run out we'll have discovered how to make diamonoid vacuum balloons.(if we aren't stupid and stop using it for kids balloons)
Oh and making helium by fusion releases a SHITTON of energy so much that you'd have a hard time making enough without turning a couple cities into glass parking lots
Just use hydrogen for kids balloons dummy.

And that replaces He as a cryogen and diving gas admixture ... how?
well i'll tell you an accelerator driven subcritical reactor isn't very cost effective
>>8124993
wow youre really stupid
>>8123104
We will run out of super neat medical stuff and a bunch of hypocrites are gonna yell at the government for a few months before we carry on with life

H-Holy Shit anon
