7 as a starting point, streamline from here:
4 1oz
1 5oz
1 10oz
1 20oz
>>8083276
5
1 1oz
1 3oz
1 5oz
1 10oz
1 20oz
>>8083286
How are you gonna weigh 2 now?
1 20oz
1 10oz
1 5oz
1 2oz
2 1oz
would work, so that's 6
>>8083301
2 oz object on 1 side
use 1 oz, object is heavier
use 3 oz, object is lighter
one side -- 6 objects (1,2,4,8,16,32)
two sides -- 4 objects (1,3,9,27)
can't be arsed to explain why, will let someone else do it
And what are the weight increments faggot? I'm just going to say put an x oz weight on for an x oz object. Formulate problems better.

How would you weigh 40 oz
>>8083240
1 - It's just fucking binary except you don't need the first 1 oz weight since you can tell that for example object weighs 1 if it's lighter than 2. So pretty much 5 weights.
>>8083301
If it 1 lighter but 3 is heavier than 2 is the weight
