Is there any actual way that we could produce a fully working, no attachment needed and lethal light saber?
Is containing enough light within a cylindrical light saber shaped field even possible? What would I need to study to do this? I need to make a light saber. I feel seriously attached to this goal right now and for the life of me I need to make a real fucking light saber. It is my life's calling. Would there be other ways of achieving the same goal? Could plasma be contained in a magnetic field to achieve the same goal?

Well fuck canon, what about containing light at much more manageable levels
plasma contained in a magnetic field.

Possible.
However to make a Lightsaber with enough power to do any real damage and stay lit for any long amount of time the batteries would be unfathomable.
Even if you could, they'd never strike each other like in the movies.
The blades would pass right through each other.
Stars Wars is a fantasy series, not a science fiction one. Your question is like asking
>Is there any actual way we could produce a fully working "one ring" from Lord of The Rings?
