>>Realize you're now bald, fat, on a low wage with all your dreams crushed.

everything was accurate up till here

I have a full head of hair and am actually getting skinnier because I do not eat anything at uni, I starve until I am so hungry I am forced to leave my room and get food

but yeah im probably lower than #452 in ability, i am probably in the bottom quartile of my class

That's why I took up to drawing furry porn

Our Prof pretty much told us to expect to feel like that the very first day

OP I know that feel

I am about to off myself, my identity is having an academic degree, that is what kept me from offing myself in early teens. Now, there is nothing that motivates me.
>>
>>7986004
This is why when you are gifted you go to an average university where everyone breaks their backs to help you and get you on their side. Girls give you pussy for help on homework or projects. You fucked up going somewhere you obviously would be another number.

Where are the innovators if they aren't in college? My prof gave us an equally crushing speech

Jesus christ, same here. I probably haven't cringed as hard since.

>Lets take physics with calc instead of basic physics
>Fuck, I'm in physics with calculus and I don't even know vectors

If you want to go into a STEM field don't bother taking physics without calculus. Without calculus it really doesn't provide you with anything necessary for any other field, and is more of just an elective for business majors. Go to office hours or a study center and sit down and try to figure out how everything works. The class is designed to make you quit most likely, don't let it.

>>An hero
>Thought about it a lot.

Get on some anti-depressants or something and get some help asap. I was in the same boat as you two quarters ago with failing intro physics and with depression. I got on anti-depressants and it has made a world of difference. Suddenly I am very successful at class. I haven't felt as happy since probably early middle school. I didn't want to go on them for a while because I was afraid of side effects and whatnot, but it really was a physical issue of brain chemistry with me, and I regret not going on them earlier.

No. Sometimes second best, sometimes best at math. Stayed in the exact same slot my whole life so far
>Peers, teachers and parents hail you as a genius
Grade 5 testing put my skills at a grade 11 level and teachers said I understood math but nothing spectacular. I spent my life thinking I would become a police officer.
>Chose the hardest most advanced STEM course at the best university in the country
I went to a shit school for engineering because it was close to home and would save money.
>You will be the greatest, the next Feynmann
I thought I was too dumb to study physics or math
>This will make up for your poor social skills and virginity
Everything changed after highschool.
>Once you're there you're #452 in ability
I did better in university. My classmates never called me smart until second year. I switched to math because it called my name. Now I'm once again second best but I landed a grant to do research
>Classes are dull formalizations of the same old classical mechanics and calculus you did in high school
Math in university is beautiful
>You aren't even able to keep up with this
My downfall is not studying enough.

Not a virgin. I don't think I'm dumb but we'll see about grad school.

I don't think I ever thought such ridiculous things but I don't have much of a long term memory... too much pot in highschool I think

In order:
Partied until junior year.. Realized trying was valuable.. Graduated top 10.

People hail me as intelligent.. Don't really care because I know how stupid I am..

Interested in everything.. I chose math because its easy to branch off into more rigorous fields with a strong math background.

I will not be the greatest.. In fact, I'm a mediocre pure mathematician. I finish my master's this fall and will go into industry as a data analyst.. I'll be more valuable there than in academia.

I have excellent social skills.. I lost my virginity at 14.. Almost became a father.. My family is puerto rican-- mom had me at 16.. her mom had her at 14.. her mother's mother had her at 13.. I broke the cycle .. 24 and childless

? what's #452 in ability?

I see what's going on here.. Yeah.. No.. I did just fine in undergrad and graduate school. Though I do love learning, I am pretty disenchanted with academia. It's overly-demanding with little payoff. I'll leave the naturally gifted to their free tenure, and the above average to fight for 20 years in an abysmal rat-race for a position that will end up getting adjuncted anyway. I'll take an above average salary and 9-5 job where work ends when I walk out the door, and use my meager wages to enjoy the smaller things in life.

There are some good financial jobs for maths grads.

I'm at a top 3 uni in my country and they do work placements in the third year with some some fortune 500 companies. You're guaranteed a job in some cases if you prove to be a great worker.

Do you not have a similar program?

Sort of like that, except I would say still top 1% of my CS classes in Uni of Michigan. I never had delusions that I would be the next Feynman or anything, and I never had any dreams of that either.

And finally, I should be a virgin, but amazingly this cutie Asian girl messaged me on pof, and it went swimmingly - until I realized that I never want kids, and she was a breeder, and so we broke up. Sad day indeed.
