Moreover compassion in helping our fellow humans means genes for many illnesses that killed people at an early age now instead spreads in the population.
It was estimated that a blockade 30 years from now would kill 10 percent of the population since people with diabetes, haemophilia and more would not get their critically dependent medicine. It is not morally sound to risk your entire nation.
There are more than 70 debilitating (like MS) or fatal illnesses that can be cured if we could edit certain genes.
