Should we give robots equal rights as humans ?
>>
>>7946768
what an idiotic question

you're an imbecile
>>
Why shouldn't we ? We create humanoid robots to be functioning members of the society, they do everything for us. They must have rights just like us.
>>
>>7946768

Should AI's give equal rights to humans?
As more intelligent, self upgrading, immortal beings, AI's will stand higher than us in any aspect. They will keep us in reservations safe from ourselfs.
>>
>>7946768
No.
>>
>>7946768
>equal rights
the right to pay taxes
>>
>>7946782
>>7946768
No. But you shouldn't give them feelings or actual intelligence either (if thats even possible).
And if they have no feelings and are perfectly designed for one particular task. Why would you give them rights at all?
>>
>>7946858
>ut you shouldn't give them feelings or actual intelligence either
Why not?
>>
>>7946768
>plays fallout 4 once
>>
>>7946898
>Why not?
You'd be creating people "born" into slavery.
>>
>>7946898

What's the point in giving them feelings, that will only detract from their operations, you could give the illusion of emotions if it interacts with people and nobody would know any different
>>
>>7946768
You're stupid for asking that question AND for putting a space before an interrogation mark.
>>
>>7946829
Yea basically, if they don't just decide to kill off 99.99% of the population because we're a waste of resources.
>>
>>7946768
no
>>
Yes we should, imagine your an atm and all the greedy humans are stealing your money!

Ye ye, now my follow up question:
why do we breed then?
>>
> should we give non-humans equal rights as humans ?
should we give animals equal rights as humans ?
should we give tables equal rights as humans ?
should we give airplanes equal rights as humans ?
>>
We're having trouble giving our fellow humans equal rights, yet you want to give our creations equal rights? baka desu
>>
Hell yeah. Calculate the consequences

Lol we'll have to program love
>>
how about we give humans the same rights as humans
>>
I think it's inevitable that certain kinds of advanced AI will eventually be considered for human rights, simply because the breadth of things for which humans are capable of having social connections with is large. As people make robots which more and more closely resemble humans, eventually one of them is going to want human rights, and people will feel compelled to give it to them. I can imagine it would be similar to the slavery situation, with one side preferring the utility of owning AI's and the other side empathizing with the AI's desire to live freely.

Although, from a practical point of view it seems like a mess. If something that has human rights is contained in digital bits then it could be copied. Imagine arbitrarily large numbers of AI's in some storage medium, copied over and over, do they all get rights?

We may eventually decide that "consciousness" is really trivial, and extending human rights to everything conscious is an intractable problem, assuming we possess technologies which can easily generate any manner of conscious thing. We may just settle on naturally occurring life only being worthy of human rights per se and leave it at that.

At it's core, human rights is as much a reflection of protecting consciousness as it is a reflection of relieving the fragility and hardships of being a living being that evolved with flaws and all. Future technological beings, invented by us, won't be subjected to such hardships.

>dat agility tho
>>
>>7946768
No.
>>
>>7946768
Robots perform tasks better than humans so if anything we should give them better rights.
>>
>>7946768
If they are better than us, then we won't have to give them anything, they'll take what they want.
>>
No way, you are probably a liberal fuckbag.
Robots can have aware AI, and could attack humans and potentially be used by terrorists if they are "persuaded"
>>
People who say yes to that question are just sad virgin neckbeards who want their future relationship with their robo waifu to be seen as legit.
Robots never deserve rights. Period.
>>
If they somehow get the ability to feel emotions and make decisions on a subjective level, then sure, why not?

If we restrict them, they might become libertarians but only with lasers and rockets and might actually stuff us into the Matrix
>>
srsly guise. we need to give airplanes more rights. they deserve equal rites just like us
>>
>>7946768
>Should we give robots equal rights as humans ?

No, I want 100% subservient slave robot race.
>>
>>7946768
Hahaha no.
>>
If consciousness arises from intelligence, then yes. If it doesn't, no.

A non sentient being doesn't suffer if enslaved, even if it's 100000 times smarter than you.

So yeah, solve the hard problem of consciousness first.
>>
>>7947600
Because it's our biological imperative. It's literally our prime directive.
>>
>>7949880
can you even have consciousness wtihout feelings ?
>>
if we get to the point where we're capable of recreating sentience we should probably end it all anyways
>>
>>7946768
Um, shouldn't we make sure all HUMANS have equal rights before we start with robots?
>>
>>7946768
~~ you'r man enough to work ~~
~~ but not for votin' ~~
~~ TELL MEEEE, OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN,...~~
>>
>>7950074
"Does a lot" != "ought to do"

I guess you think our other major biological 'directives' include stuffing our face with all the sugar and fat we can get our hands on?
>>
>>7950080
Yes
>>
>>7951145
from a purely biological standpoint yes, we're all just vonn neumann machines. Sure there can be some deeper philisophical meaning or you can be religious or something, but there's no avoiding the truth
