YMD = 2016-03-14
DMY = 14.3.2016
MDY = 3/14/2016

How has the world not agreed that YMD is superior yet? It's the only lexographically sortable variation.
>MDY
Absolutely trash
>DMY
Good for short term since the day is visually easy to spot and sort, long term not so much
>YMD
Sortable, in order, not easy to confuse with the previous two (Y is first)
I don't get it. Dates are far from standardized except in specific places (like I assume air travel or stock markets or something might have an internal standard), but why hasn't everybody chosen this format?

2016-03-14 is the officially correct way according to the International Organization of Standards (ISO).
It is ISO 8601.
I always write dates this officially correct way. You should too. Maybe someday the world will.

A few years of military service has burned the NATO standard into me. I think it works quite well:
Date:
14MAR16
Literally can't confuse the date or month when use this method. It's idiot proof.

Isn't great for computers though. Have to convert it to sort it (or have a weird sorting algorithm).
But it makes sense when confusing month/day means Al Queda wins.

Why is π such a meme number? Nobody ever talks about the far more interesting irrational numbers.

Because they're all either over-enthusiastic freshman, or popsci sheep
