Psssst, faggots, how does this compare to GCSE mathematics in terms of difficulty? I never did GCSE.

It's one assignment question from the the Open Universities lowest level maths course.

T-T-Thanks.

Fuck it's slanted. I'll try to fix it. BRB.

Please work.

Interesting. Without wanting to come across as an arrogant twat, I'm finding it pretty easy so far and I got a G grade at GCSE. Though this time I'm actually doing the work. Shows how much of a difference a change in attitude can make.

By the way, the word polynomial isn't mentioned anywhere in the quadratics section of the textbook (which this question is supposed to test). I will have to look this up.

Another question, from the same assignment. A trig question.
>>
>>7924758
Lol yeah well done this is way above G grade stuff.

Quadratics are polynomials. A polynomial is anything that has x^n in it so x^2 is a quadratic, x^3 is a cubic, x^4 is a quartic, x^5 is a quintic and so on.
>>
>>7925332

What about the trig question I've posted? I'll post another in a sec.
>>
>>7925368
yeah that is too.

I dont know about GSCE, but this is like year 10/11 stuff in Australia. Maybe axis of symmetry isnt used until 12 though, but it isnt hard.
>>
>>7925376

GCSE is high school stuff, so I presume it's similar to the UK.

The course is intended as a refresher for high school level mathematics and to create a good base for starting calc and the math beyond.

What exactly is more difficult?

Here is another trig question from the same assignment.

If it comes our slanted, I'll repost it in two parts.
>>
This is a tiny bit harder than GCSE, on the GCSE/AS boundary

Is this maths or Physics?
>>
>>7926666

Intro to maths
>>
>>7926674
Oh, around a third of that stuff is covered in the physics syllabus at AS, not in the maths syllabus
>>
>>7926678

That's interesting. I'm enjoying the physics parts a lot. Glad it's included.

The entire course is 4 textbooks (a bit over a 1000 pages) done in 8 months.
>>
>>7926678

Wait a minute, so models of vertically launched projectiles is part of AS level physics?
>>
>>7926717
Parabolic motion of projectiles is
>>
>>7926720

Is this shit supposed to be easy? How do most people fair at this? And can I expect a big jump in difficulty soon?
>>
>>7926733
The stuff you're doing is pretty trivial once you get further along in your studies.
>>
>>7926736

The next course (which is designed to be taken after this one) will cover sequences, complex numbers, functions, further trig, calc, matrices, and vectors. Any advice/things to keep in mind? Anything to look out for that fucks people?
>>
>>7926754

And how comparable does it sound to A level?
>>
>>7924694

Its on the harder end of GSCE, and on the easier end of A-level.
>>
>>7926796

What about

>will cover sequences, complex numbers, functions, further trig, calc, matrices, and vectors.
>>
>>7926808

Then thats mid to early A-level. Thats all in Core 2 and FP1 modules IIRC, they are first-year modules.

With the exception of further trig and vectors, which are GSCE subjects.
>>
>>7926815

What's late A levels?
>>
>>7926818

Advanced perms and combs, circular motion, complex calculus, proofs, integrating under the sign, advanced parameterisation, etc
