Hey Medifags I'm hoping some of you can help me figure out what's wrong with me.
I've had painful spasms in my back since I was a kid that would cause my legs to stop working but it only lasted a few seconds.
A few days ago I had a spasm while sitting down for the first time and while I was able to move Myles shortly after the pain didn't go away. So I went to the ER yesterday and walked into the hospital and while laying on the bed my back spasmed again any my legs can barely function. I can hardly get any sensation in my legs and I can't move anything other than my hips. And even then they're tiny movements.
Interestingly my legs aren't limp. It's like all the muscles are constantly contracted.
The ER discharged me saying its a muscular issue but I don't believe them. Do any of you have any ideas what's wrong with me?

Oh and I can't support my own weight even if I'm helped up. Also I have little to no control of my legs

I didn't really read your post fully or thuroughly. But I don't think you're going to get a good answer here, using fucking google or webmd will likely give you a better answer.
Go to a doctor, ideally a fucking specialist, if you can. If the issue doesn't really interfere with your life that much then maybe you can just deal with it.

See a neurologist, do nerve conduction studies, EMG, MRI.
As suggested by their name the ER deals with emergency conditions, once they've ruled it out they discard you, you want to visit a specialist instead.
Do you still retain feeling in your legs? Any feeling of heat/cold or pins/needles?

Go see a fucking real doctor, a specialist who has experience. No one here is going to give decent advice.

I'm not a medifag and I'm talking out of my ass but I think your spine is somehow pinching the spinal nerve in your lower back causing your leg to not properly respond to brain stimuli. It's like when people loose the use of their leg after a car accident.
Go to a neurologist+orthopedist as soon as you can. Becoming a paraplegic potato isn't as fun as it sounds.

Sounds like something is putting pressure on your spinal cord.
It could also be electrolyte imbalance or mineral deficiency(zink or magnesium). What tests did they perform at the emergency room? What labs?
