Schizophrenia is serious condition where someone has completely broken with reality, indulging their delusions is potentially dangerous for both the sufferer and those around them. People who have untreated schizophrenia have a higher rate of suicide, homelessness, joblessness. Clearly it's not really the kind of think you want to indulge.

But a lot of that is also true for GID? A lot of post-op people commit suicide and are obviously broken with reality. But that's what I', are trying to tell you, the only known treatment for these things is HRT and surgery with some psychotherapy, anything else just isn't effective.

No one knows what else to try, as far as I'm aware there's still no understanding of what causes GID. There's been a few studies that show that people with GID have brain structures that are more similar to the structures of the gender they think they are.

Mental conditions are considered an illness when they significantly impair someone's quality of life. Being sad isn't clinical depression, but being unable to get out of your bed, not eating and lacking the willpower to take a shower is. Moderate and severe depression isn't even that characterised by sadness as much as it's characterised by emotional numbness.

Homosexuality stopped being considered an illness because fags can live a happy life nowadays despite it. It's not considered a disorder because of political correctness.
