i remember the book is called principles of biochemistry by lenigger or something
goes over enzymatic mechanisms, including chemical rates. basic math desu way too easy
very good in understanding how enzymes work and how environmental factors affect it.
otherwise, memorizing at least 50-100 enzymes and proteins is a necessity if you don't want to study while constantly flipping to the glossary.

Histones wind up DNA and condense it, yes. Not all parts of a DNA sequence are affected by histones at the same time. Depends on what needs to be expressed and what stage of mitosis the cell is in.
Basically the histone is comprised of many subunits, around DNA winds, like of like thread around a spindle.
