Jesus. Sounds ugly but decent-ish for see/do classes like elementary calculus. Something like this will do you no good for higher math.

For me, I like to write down only definitions, propositions, theorems. No proofs. Very few examples / exercises. Then I go through my notebook a couple of times each semester and try to prove everything and think of examples. If I can't, I failed, and I study that topic from a book and try again.

Timing is important, I keep a calendar and study it frequently to begin with then less frequently as time goes on, testing myself and increasing/decreasing the time until I study it again depending on how well I have remembered everything.

It isn't a strict timetable. Generally I study every day until I develop good methods and pass my little tests flawlessly, then I do it about once every 2 days for a week, then twice a week, then once a week, then once a month.

This way it gets committed to long term memory then memories are reinforced periodically with minimal effort.

I paint demonic sigils on my body and pray to Satan in hope that he will impart his knowledge upon me.
It hasn't failed me yet.

I study within the classes themselves mostly.
When I learn a topic I immediately try to find easy to remember relations between elements of whatever idea I'm studying so that I end up using less cognitive effort when solving in the long run as it helps me better focus on the correctness of the solution.
I still write down as much notes as possible and practice examples (on weekends mostly for about 5 hours) to either solidify those relations or make new ones.

I use a stopwatch when practicing if the subject demands it
