We're probably just looking for another planet to pick up their resources because the Earth is no longer holding up. Only the United States would need three Earths to maintain their consumption, which is growing.

Earth will be just fine for a couple more billion years. Our ability to survive on the surface won't. We ultimately want to find other Earths as a matter of survival.

Our first radio waves have now travelled 100 light years, TV signals 75 light years
The next nearest solar system is 16 light years away.
Assuming their probes/telescopes have picked up our signals one has to assume 30 years to design and build a viable mission.
1 year to get out of their solar system then 32 years travelling at quarter-light speed plus another year getting through our oort cloud.

We should have aliums knocking on our door anytime soon.

yeah but after a light year those signals get so degraded they become virtually indistinguishable from other noise, plus the likelihood of another civilization existing at this time with the ability or the interest in receiving primitive radio is so unlikely its almost impossible.
