Hey /sci what music do you like to hear when you study?

That episode creeped me out when I was younger
>>7653814
you are not alone
brutal atmospheric slamming blackened death jazz with some post-baroque influences
>>7653664
mongolian throat chanting. wish I was joking
>>7653664
What is this music, OP? It's creeping me out a lil.

Depends what I'm studying and my mood. Lot of Modest Mouse.
I tend to avoid ambient music though. It messes with the ability to direct thought and seems to inhibit learning passively. Though some is the exact opposite.

Deep dubstep or liquid dnb are my go-to's.
I've been trying to break into the smooth jazz scene, but I haven't found a very good place to start.
Examples, if anyone is interested.

Why? It's awesome!!
>>7653664
Repetitive electronic music like minimal techno or drum-n-bass when studying technical things. When I read literature I usually opt for something classical.
>>7655069
...and dubstep. The oldschool stuff, not le ebin skröllöx type retardedness.
>>7655055
The Simpsons, in that episode Homer has an encounter with an alien. (8^(|)
None, it's a distraction to me
>>7654047
Am I going to die now?
Usually something either ambient like No. 9, chiptune, or shoegaze like Plastic Girl in Closet or Kinoku Teikoku. Every now and then anime soundtracks.
Honestly if I'm really serious about my studying I'll just sit in the quietest part of the library with no music.

>alien
It was Mr Burns.

>smooth jazz
Kill yourself
>>7655085

Classical or very calm jazz played over sounds of nature.
Surprised no one has mentioned BoC. http://youtu.be/Eb-1cK-FMwQ
Also Aphex is good but I tend to go for Selected Ambient Works when doing work, can't be too distracted.

I've been listening to dungeon synth lately, I really like it

Honestly it doesn't matter much as long as it's good. Sometimes Pandora gets a bit too cliche/plays over-used stuff so I switch to Spotify. Usually progressive trance
>>7655838
And now you spoiled it. By calling that green guy an alien, I gave the asker a chance to watch that episode without ruining it.
