Hey /sci/, I just finished highschool and want to get into studying neuroscience/something related by next year. I have to kill 6 months between now and starting military service (fucking austria) and would like to get familiar with the subject so I can decide whether or not this is something I want to dedicate my work/time to.
Could some of you anons give me tips on where to start? If possible weblinks/non expensive literature.
Thanks in advance
This is a pretty slow board so don't bother with bumps after just a few minutes. That being said I'm also interested in some good beginner resources for neuroscience so hopefully someone here can help us.

thanks I'll check it out!
By the way: It sure would be an advantage to have some base knowledge of chemistry. Unfortunately I didn't pick up that much in highschool. So do you have any suggestions for that as well?

Neuroscience: exploring the brain by Bears et al is commonly used as entry level neuroscience book.

Neuroscience, Purves.
Start with anatomy, grey or rouviere.
Then a book a little more specialized like Snell.
I think that's all you are gonna get in 6 months, if you are into it next step is fisiology, read guyton.
