When determining inherited traits we can predict just what traits will be inherited. we can determine these using a lels. a lels are in this example represent a certain trait, A may represent brown eyes, a may represent blue eyes. when two of the same a lels are inherited from the parents we refer to them as homozygous (lol) in this case the a lels will be both AA or aa. When two different types of a lels are inherited we refer to these as heterozygous.
With heteros the dominant gene is usually one expressed, but through an amazing thing called cross dominance someone may inherit a combination of both genes! But that's a lesson for another day!

over all a very good read and very informative, the image attached really helps to vizualise how the process works.
