They're early work was a little too new wave for my taste.
But when Sports came out in '83,
I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically.

At the time smooth operator was a hit, the retro natural sounding vocals of a male lead on pepped up songs about love the concept not the act it made the sound waves a bit better
