Bandwidth is a finite resource and like any other scarce commodity, price is the mechanism used to allocate it.

All this net neutrality controversy is pointless. In a capitalistic based economy, companies will compete and nothing will change whether there is net neutrality or not. There are already well established companies to compete, with many more small companies that will rise thanks to the deal, and this deal will stimulate growth within the sector of the economy and will make benefits for everyone

That's the thing about "progress". If it doesn't pass once, they'll just try again, and again, and again, and again, until it slips through one time. And then it will never go away.
The whole thing is stupid, anyway. I have plenty of grievances against Comcast et al. right NOW, not in some hypothetical future where they act a little bit more evil than they already are. The only reason they're considering fucking over their customers is because they have local monopolies, and they only have those because non-compete agreements have made ISPs into a US-wide cartel. If the only solution to corporate evil is passing laws, then here are some other laws they need to pass:
- When someone wants to cancel their service, do it. http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/Listen-as-Comcast-Simply-Refuses-to-Let-You-Cancel-Service-129690
- Don't insert malicious packets into your customers' traffic. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r18323368-Comcast-is-using-Sandvine-to-manage-P2P-Connections
- No, seriously, DON'T do that. http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/Comcast-Using-Javascript-Ad-Injection-On-Companys-WiFi-Network-130364
- Don't break DNS by pretending pages exist when they don't. https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2009/08/comcasts-dns-redirect-service-goes-nationwide/
So even if Net Neutrality is upheld, things won't get better. They won't even stop getting worse. They will simply stop getting worse on one particular issue out of dozens. In order for things to get better, I as a consumer need to have options. And I don't have options, because the government have the last mile to the ISPs instead of to me, who actually lives in the place.
Net Neutrality is a fucking circus. ISPs play the part of the villain and congress plays the part of the hero, when really they both collaborated to make this shitshow happen in the first place.

Haha ya I heard that on Fox news also! Making internet hosting too expensive for startups and small businesses will be totally great for startups and small businesses! You have to give big business more money so that it can trickle down to everyone else xDDD
