That doesn't seem relevant to my question. But since you brought it up,the DSM V says that the discontent people feel due to having a gender identity that doesn't correspond to their sex is a disorder (this is gender dysphoria), however actually having the "wrong" gender identity is not considered a disorder or mental illness. This way, if someone happens to identify more as a female than a male, but doesn't really mind that and is okay with their body, nothing needs to be done. Which makes sense. Also, it seems like a good way to determine which side is which would be to have them go to a therapist and talk about it to them, which, unless you self-medicate, is basically required to get HRT in the first place because, as far as I'm aware, most endocrinologist in at least the US (outside the US, I think the restrictions are even more harsh, but I'm not sure) require a letter from a counselor before they'll even think about beginning HRT.

Actually, to expand on this, have you people noticed the changing image of trans people? Go back ten, twenty years ago and the images people would use to discourage, villify, and make light of trans people was of was burly 40-year old drag queens. Now it's people like Wright who transitioned later than they should have. Trans people are bullied and told that they'll look like that and so they end up transitioning later than they should and then the same people that caused them to transition late make fun of them for it. But now that the issue is actually being addressed and discussed each generation gets a little bit closer to the proper transition time. Each year that goes by your pictures of "transitions gone wrong" become a little less relevant. From old men in women's clothing, to an effeminate person with a somewhat unfortunate face, your ammo is running out and degrading in quality at the same time. What will you point to when the majority of transitions are done at a younger age and turn out aesthetically successful?
