I don't understand so much about it

like how tooru made a contract with Frederica and then told Akane that they weren't siblings anymore

but then at the ending Frederica is just a cat again and Akane doesn't seem to remember what happened there

and speaking of not remembering what about Chaika using her memories to fuel the final killshot

I've seen stories like that before where a character has to lose their memories of all the good times they shared along the way and at the ending there's this really bittersweet scene where they don't recognize their friends but the friends are still happy they're alive

I really expected to see that at the ending, and maybe her memories are missing, but they didn't really show it

Tooru and Chaika just walk to see a tree with falling blossoms

and there is something poignant that they could be saying by showing those blossoms since there's a special moment that exists between the time when a blossom falls and lands that is beautiful but also sad in a way

maybe you could say mono no aware

is that what they were going for here? I hope so, because it would make the experience of watching the thing more worthwhile

Yeah, they didn't really do much besides say "everyone lived happily ever after" in a small wooden cottage. Tooru goes back to looking like a saboteur, too. Honestly I was kind of disappointed that Tooru only utilized the whole dragoon cavalier thing that one time, especially after his mentor said that thing about ~~it being more suitable for him than being a saboteur all along.~~
And the thing with the crazy gundyr whose name I don't remember was bullshit too. ~~I can't believe that instead of an actual fight, she just says "I am a person" and disobeys emperor gaz, causing chaika to automatically win.~~
It was like it all built up to that one anticlimactic moment and had a storybook ending.
I guess Chaika Trabant didn't have her memories anymore, and Tooru was kinda helping rehabilitate her. I remember her stumbling around in the end. I like to imagine that once she's back on track with who she is,
there will be some more romance between her and Tooru. I think that's partially what the cherry blossoms symbolized. Viewing the blossoms together could be considered romantic.
Overall I feel like more could have been done with the series, but they had to cut it short due to time and budget.
