Why do you think you have to be mad to hide a thread? I'm literally just hiding threads that are garbage and don't produce anything worth looking at. I'm the furthest thing from angry about this. The filters and hide thread options exist on 4chan for these reasons, to prevent you from having to deal with shit spam garbage threads that have no meaning or purpose.

The problem is, OP, that you probably aren't seeing all the posts. If you are just viewing [s4s] through the /s4s/ board, you don't see the green posts, the posts with letters in their ids, or anything numberless. Together, those make up about 40-70 percent of [s4s], depending on the day. So conversation will appear disjointed and spastic, because you won't be getting the full picture.

I actually just flipped over to the /s4s/ interface to make this post, and it's pretty funny how unintelligible [s4s] is like this.

when over 50% of the threads are just someone or a small group of people trying to force something onto the board, i tend to ignore it. like all the gay anime stuff. i just hide it. it doesn't offend me, i'm not disgusted by it, it just doesn't interest me and i don't see any reason to waste my time on it. if it's hidden then it's out of mind and i can focus on other threads that aren't shit and contribute to them. people that think hiding threads means you lost or some shit are probably the asshole spamming all the shit that i'm hiding and are upset about it

I feel like that's a bit of a conspiracy mentality. Like I can't really know what goes on or the idea behind it, but I figure any active bad intent isn't really happening on here. I mean I could imagine that about anything I don't like, but the idea that people are actively trying to subvert [s4s] to their minority (how do you tell it's a minority aka small group?) opinion seems a little bit much. I mean I saw that "Pee Girl Grey" thread earlier and I thought that was funny, but I don't get off on girls peeing into cups. I think the idea of misinterpreting balls as eggs is pretty funny. Like I dunno, most of what I see on here is amusing.
I dunno who thinks that hiding threads means you lost, and if I saw someone saying that I'd think it's silly. Hiding a thread means you don't want to see it, and the opinion I've heard far, far more is the "if you don't like it, then hide it" opinion, which is counter to your idea. Like I said, I hide threads with gross images, because I don't want to see them; it would be silly if I had the idea that somehow they've won because I don't want to see their thread.

[s4s] is regularly taken over by minorities. That's why I'm not so worried about all the bullshit going on now. And it is going on now. The fact that you hide threads doesn't mean anybody "won" or "lost" because this an anonymous joke of an imageboard, created for april fools, raised on nonsense, and brainwashed by multiple versions of itself. My personal opinion is that the fact you find somebody else's random ass crap disturbing enough to actually hide it from yourself, is a little bit pathetic and probably unhealthy.

Either way, once again I agree with you that hiding threads doesn't mean that anyone "won" or "lost", and I double down on my agreeing with your characterization of the board as this absurd thing where if you feel that you've "won" or "lost" on it, it's sorta strange.
Although I'm a little bit confused by the last part of your post. Is that in specific reference to me hiding things that I find gross? When I say gross I mean pictures of poop in toilets; those are the main threads that I hide, because I don't like to see pictures of poop. I'm not sure what logical gymnastics you'd like to play to spin me hiding images of poop as unhealthy.
