OP, don't you have mandatory service? Are you bummed about that at all? I have a friend at my school from Taiwan, and all his siblings but him were born in America, so he's the only one who has to serve once he finishes Uni. He's super bummed.

As to Taiwan, I've heard that the cost of living in Taiwan is much cheaper than in the U.S. Many people say things like "I'm going to quit my day job, move to Taiwan, and work as a freelancer for two hours a week and live like a king." Do you know if many foreigners actually do live like this, or is that a silly notion?

Also, I've heard that there is a growing entrepreneurial culture in Taiwan; you guys have companies for convenience that we in the U.S. don't have, and we aren't copying them because we haven't heard about them. I'm not sure if you're familiar with "Silicon Valley" in the U.S. (if you're not, it's a part of California where a bunch of weird, hippie businessmen live, who spend all their time coming up with silly companies and occasionally becoming rich), but do you have anything like that in Taiwan?

The problem is, OP, that you probably aren't seeing all the posts. If you are just viewing [s4s] through the /s4s/ board, you don't see the green posts, the posts with letters in their ids, or anything numberless. Together, those make up about 40-70 percent of [s4s], depending on the day. So conversation will appear disjointed and spastic, because you won't be getting the full picture.

I actually just flipped over to the /s4s/ interface to make this post, and it's pretty funny how unintelligible [s4s] is like this.
