Hey guys so I am beginning a diet to lose about 25 pounds. Based on my height weight and body fat calorie intake per day to maintain my current weight is 3200, while my base metabolic rate of BMR is 2100. Which do I base my 20-25% calorie deficit on? Should I be eating 2400 calories a day, or 1500?

I'll do that after I hit my target weight I need to reduce my body fat and ease into weight lifting so I don't hurt my joints which are overburdened.

i have nearly as much lean mass as your target weight and i'm a 5'9 manlet

if you're serious about starving yourself go for the lower calorie option but eat like 3 heads of lettuce a day so you feel full

See that's the problem anon, I'm clearly observably fat. I have a paunch and the makings of a double chin. My weight is "low" probably because of my relatively low muscle mass. I can very easily pinch a roll of skin and it has a lot of give to it.

Even if I do bulk up, getting rid of that body fat is still important. I know I can't lose weight and bulk simultaneously.

I'm not sure, I lift very, very little (I mean in terms of weight, not how frequently I work out I go to the gym avidly). Won't it be counter productive to put on mass now and then try and lose my body fat?

idk lol i just know that fat gains are real so make use of your flab while u got it

if you have joint problems then use wraps or go to physical therapy or use potassium / creatine or something. there is no reason your legs / back shouldn't support your weight unless there's some other issue.

By compound lifts do you mean super sets? Where each set is comprised of two different exercises?

Okay, I'll consider this. What's a good set/rep ratio if I'm trying to increase both mass and strength? Something like 5 sets of 6?

i always did 5x5 on heavy lifts and 10-15x5 on lighter lifts

the jews at the gym tell me more reps at a lower weight is better for gaining muscle but idk
