Have you ever thought about how much better your life would've been if you had never been introduced to video games in the first place and had picked up a real hobby? It's mind-boggling.

There are about four or five games which have actually inspired me creatively. Beyond that, yes, video games are a semi-entertaining distraction. If you don't believe in yourself and your ability to produce anything creative yourself, or additionally to persist in a single effort for any length of time without distraction, then you'll probably think that the only way you can enjoy your free time are the modern things that have been offered you in the form of digital entertainment, be they tv shows movies or video games.
What I think has to happen to a person who has been thoroughly involved in watching movies or playing video games is for them to become disenfranchised by the lack of principal novelty in any of the things they are being entertained by. There are very few truly novel films or games out there. They are way below 1% of what is offered. So being a "gamer" or a person who watches a lot of tv or movies is simply someone who has yet to see how replicatory, predictable, and uninspired most everything on the market is. They're most recombining existing elements in semi-novel ways. A kalaedescopic wheel of samsara, you will get dizzy and begin to feel sick the longer you indulge in this media without expressing anything yourself.
I happen to think that Half Life and Portal were really creative genius. Wes anderson films and studio ghibli and some others. There are really actually very few "good" things out there. There is merely what people are willing to tolerate because they crave entertainment, are addicted to it. If you were addicted to it, you could simply watch or play that one good thing that comes by once every year or two years and that would be a much better way to live.

Idk, I only play videos games every few days and enjoy it. No different than if I had watched a movie really.
