Suppose you have a triangle with vertices at (x1, y1), (x2, y2), and (x3, y3), and you think to yourself "Gosh, I wish I could cut this triangle out of paper and balance it on the head of a needle, or hang it from the ceiling and have it balance flat". For these things, you need to find the center of gravity.
