Long after a meme has lost meaning, one can detect its frequency, and plot its density over time as a wave function, not dissimilar to how sound waves are a wave function of various particles in the air. Do your ears know which particles compose the sound wave? Doesn't matter, for the frequency equation is more or less preserved no matter what medium it propagates through. Ultimately, this noise can be modulated, categorized, and compressed into a language of its own, long after the meaning of each individual meme has been lost to the annuls of history.
Are particles just memes? Are memes (units of memory) the fundamental particle that makes up all of physical reality?

Are life forms memes?

Meme is just a word that someone made up to describe ideas that spread throughout society. Ideas are not life forms, they're just electrical currents moving through neural pathways.
