Watching all the insects march along
Seem to know just right where they belong
Smears a face reflecting in the chrome
Hiding in the crowd, I'm all alone
No one's heard a single word I've said
They don't sound as good outside my head
It looks as though the past is here to stay
I've become a million miles aw-
Why do you get all the love in the world?
Why do you get all the love in the world?
The more that we take
The paler we get
I can't remember what it is
We try to forget
The tile on the floor
So cold it can sting
In your eyes is a place
Worth remembering
For you to go and take this, to smash it apart
I've gone all this fucking way
To wind up back at
Back at the start
Hey, the closer we think we are
Well it only got us so far
Now you got anything left to show
No no I didn't think so
Hey, the sooner we realize
We cover ourselves with lies
But underneath we're not so tough
And love is not enough
Well it hides in the dark
Like the withering vein
We didn't give it a mouth
So it cannot complain
It never really had a chance
We'd never really make it through
I never think I'd believed
I believed I could get better with you
I'm becoming less defined as days go by
Fading away
And well you might say
I'm losing focus
Kinda drifting into the abstract in terms of how I see myself
Sometimes I think I can see right through myself [x2]
Sometimes I can see right through myself
Less concerned about fitting into the world
Your world that is
Cause it doesn't really matter anymore
(no it doesn't really matter anymore)
No it doesn't really matter anymore
None of this really matters anymore
Yes I am alone but then again I always was
As far back as I can tell
I think maybe it's because
Because you were never really real to begin with
I just made you up to hurt myself
[x2]
I just made you up to hurt myself, yeah
And I just made you up to hurt myself
And it worked.
Yes it did!
[Chorus:]
There is no you
There is only me
There is no you
There is only me
There is no fucking you
There is only me
There is no fucking you
There is only me
Only [x4]
Well the tiniest little dot caught my eye and it turned out to be a scab
And I had this funny feeling like I just knew it's something bad
I just couldn't leave it alone, I kept picking at the scab
It was a doorway trying to seal itself shut
But I climbed through
Now I am somewhere I am not supposed to be, and I can see things I know I really shouldn't see
And now I know why, now, now, now I know why
Things aren't as pretty
On the inside
[Chorus]
Only [x8]
I WANNA HEAL
I WANNA FEEL
LIKE I'M CLOSE TO SOMETHING REAL
I WANNA FEEL LIKE I'M SOMEWHERE I BELONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
The Corn Laws were a series of laws in the UK, beginning in 1815 that restricted the imports of corn into the UK from other countries.
The Corn Laws were explicitly introduced to benefit the landowning class. Landowners were worried that, as the Napoleonic Wars were ending, new imports and reduced need for corn would drive down the price of the corn they grew and sold, and so make them worse off. Of course, those higher prices had to be paid by everyone in Britain who bought wheat or bread - in other words, everyone in Britain. There was also an argument that it was important to try to make Britain as self-sufficient in food as possible.
The effects of the Corn Laws were more or less as we would expect. They benefited landowners by pushing up the price of grain; this higher price was paid by everyone, falling particularly heavily on the poor who would spend a higher proportion of their income on bread.
How much of an effect are we talking about? It's obviously difficult to be certain, but Jeffrey Williamson modelled the impact of the Corn Laws, and found that repealing the Corn Laws in the 1830s, earlier than they actually were repealed, could have reduced the cost of living for common (unskilled) workers by as much as 25%, and for skilled workers by about 14%.
The Corn Laws illustrate the problems with protectionism. While they did benefit a minority interest - in this case the rich landowners - that benefit came off the backs of everyone else in Britain, who had to pay higher prices for their daily bread. These higher prices made them much poorer, just as surely as lower wages would have done. Other protectionist policies, of all kinds, work in pretty much the same way. They benefit the interests of some minority who get a protected market, but the cost is paid by everyone else, as people experience higher prices and a higher cost of living. This is why protectionism is, in general, bad, and why we still oppose protectionism today.

While undoubtedly there are some issues with protectionism, it always seems that the main concern is that it limits the amount of money. Protectionism does offer a country some breathing room to develop their own industries to such a capacity as to compete with their rivals.

>*Block your path*
*haunts your dreams*
Twelve days were past and now the dawning light
The gods had summoned to the Olympian height
Jove, first ascending from watery bowers
leads the long order of ethereal powers
When, like the mourning missed in early day
rose from the flood the daughter of the sea:
and to the seats divine her flight address'd,
there, far apart, and above the rest
The thunderer sat; where old Olypus shouds
his hundred heads in heaven, and props the clouds
Suppliant the goddess stood: one hand she placed
beneath his beard, and one his knees embraced
>If e'er O father of the gods! (she said)
>Some marks of honour on my son bestow
>My words could please thee, or my actions aid,
>And pay in glory what in life you owe
>Fame is at least by heavenly promise due
>Avenge this wrong, O ever just and wise!
>To life so short, and now dishonoured too
>Let Greece be humbled, and let the Trojans rise
>Till the proud king and all the Achian race
>Shall heap with honours him they now disgrace
