Male teacher here. I've been teaching for 15 years. I don't know how it is at other schools, but I can honestly say half the female faculty are terrible at their jobs, and most of the students hate them.

The have poor pedagogical skills, poor classroom management, uninteresting lesson plans, terrible teaching strategies, are disturbingly unquestioning toward the curriculum, very mistreating to boy students (from some weird insecure fucking reason that escapes me), kiss administrators ass constantly (probably out of insecurity for being bad at their jobs), put on face for parents and admin, and stress out WAY to much to the point it stresses other teachers out around them and their students.

I try to tell them not to stress, to be respectful to their students, and adapt their lesson plans for ESL students, and SN students, but they are arrogant beyond measure and don't want help/advice.

Not to mention half of them will flip the fuck out and start screaming at students for the most petty reasons, instead of thinking about what kind of mistakes they might have made as a teacher.

It might just be the women I work with, but in 15 years it's never changed.

All the male teachers (except for one dick head that is in the classroom across from mine), have been excellent.

Otherwise, I agree. I used to teach mathematics. Hated the part about lesson plans. 99% of the time they went out the window when it became clear that the students needed something else to be emphasized. When you have been doing your job for this long, you see how terrible others are at the same job. Our faculty is almost 50/50 with male and female teachers, so it's not a sexist issue, it's a professional one.

I've definitely not had the same experience as you although I've only taught as a TEFL teacher for 2 full years. From what I've gathered, it's a mix between both sexes: Plenty of male and females who stress over nothing.

The only gripe I have are with other native English teachers who're lazy and feel that they can get away with not teaching by playing games/making up bullshit activities for the entire 9 months. There's this ony guy in particular I know who doesn't know his grammar so he'll avoid teaching stuff he doesn't know by making up some stupid game. He can never admit when he's wrong because he obviously comes from a pikey upbringing where you're applauded for scamming people so he'll always make up excuses for why his activities are truly beneficial to the students.

My experience is similar.

Older women tend to be pretty good teachers.
But younger women are interested in relationships and social aspects of school. They don't care about, and aren't there for academics. Male students are often neglected by female teachers for this reason.

My mother was a teacher, as was my girlfriend's mother. Many of both our mothers' friends were & in some cases still are teachers. Primary, secondary, & a few tertiary. I talk to a lot of them. Neither of us was taught by our mothers, but we've both talked to a lot of our peers who were. Some of our own friends are teachers.

Slavish adherence to lesson plans & the curriculum is by no means skewed towards women. The most vehement, outspoken, & stubborn opponents of that bullshit that I know of were women. They gave a shit about the kids & about teaching. There were men who did that too, of course, but I'm not kidding when I say the ones who were most attentive to students' weaknesses were all women & gay men.

I was a naturally high-achieving student, & personally I got a lot more from my male teachers. Talking to others in my high school cohort (i.e., other "smart kids", male & female), they found the same.

I know a fair few teachers who did occasional temp teaching after retirement, & the men seem to have done a competent job but nothing extraordinary, while the women were split into "bloody terrible" & the sort who when given a year 7 class & a photocopied page from some censored history textbook will first teach the kids the real history & explain its context & relevance, then realise the kids didn't pick up on BC/AD & launch into a maths-&-calendering lesson. The students come away saying the men were fine, half the women were dreadful, & the other half were the best teachers they've had.

A lot more women go back as temps after retiring; maybe that's messing with the hearsay I'm summarising. I still think there's something there.

I think it's just teachers in general that are useless. You get the odd decent one that knows what they are doing and are actually interested but the rest are crap. I dunno when I was still a student there was only one female teacher that I would say was a good teacher. She wasn't that attractive or anything but you could tell she actually cared about teaching and that she loved the subject she taught (Geometry). It seemed though that virtually all the rest of my female teachers just became teachers because they expected it to be an easy job with little effort and it showed. One female teacher I had even verbally bullied a special needs student (also female) constantly because on the first day she mispronounced the teachers name because she had a speech impediment. I mean she would literally intentionally say the girls name wrong and ridiculed her for all sorts of things the entire fucking year because the girl couldn't pronounce the teachers name ONCE. How fucking petty do you get especially to do that to a special needs kid when you're supposed be a grown ass fucking woman.

It seemed to be worse with the some of the more attractive and younger female teachers. One in particular would come to class everyday write a set of pages on the board for you to read and on every Friday she gave a quiz. She literally would write on the board for five seconds or hand out the quiz papers then sit on her ass at her desk and mess with her makeup or read a book or something. And if you actually went up to her to ask her a question she would just look at you like you were a fucking idiot for even asking anything. Of course when she had an administrator in the class she would actually read from the text and ask questions to make it look like she actually did something but other than that we were on our fucking own. We basically had to teach ourselves.

Saying this I had eight male teachers in the time I was i school and not a single one of them was bad. They would make sure to have one on one time with every student and if you had questions they would work with you as best as they could til you understood.

Teacher, here. My school is well balanced, and has extremely competent women BUT the *new* female teachers are for the most part, pathetic, with the "stressing out way too much" thing especially. They stress over the stupidest shit, put their own personal needs above those of the students, treat other teachers like children, and behave as though their position is insular. Pedagogy-wise, the department I'm in is in total disarray, mostly because half the teachers are new, but I'm telling you, these ladies are shafting the kids. There's no consistent discipline cues, no consistent teaching strategies, no consistent curriculum, or goals. It's a pain in the ass, and I know 3 of 7 teachers - all female - have left the school to teach elsewhere (it's an at-risk, low income school, so they were torn to shreds) or pursue other careers. They sucked ass and had no classroom management skills whatsoever, to say nothing of their lack of teaching ability.

No you don't, dilweed. Teachers are supposed to consistently communicate with, and consult with one-another, especially with regards to things like:
- discipline
- curriculum
- teaching techniques

in order to deliver consistent behavioral and academic cues to the students; that is, each teacher has his/her own style, but the overall message and tone of the department(s) and school is unified. If a teacher is not doing their job correctly, or, specifically emotionally/physically/mentally incapacitated to the point they cannot perform their duty as a civil servant, and other teachers see this, they are ethically bound to report them. Teachers *have* to communicate with one another, because if something isn't working in one classroom, it's going to affect the rest of the system.
