Actually she said it was because she was feeling insecure about them. She felt like she wasn't being taken seriously as an actress and people ogled her too often. The most common reason they do it is for back pain, and unless the pain was really bad they're likely to regret it afterwards. Any decent doctor would recommend diet and exercise before a breast reduction because the average person is out of shape and probably at least a few pounds heavier than they need to be. But usually by the time they've reached the point where they feel the need for a reduction they're way past the point of no return. They're already too top heavy to be able to do anything about their fitness. They're not about to begin jogging and doing yoga when they're already in pain. So telling a heavy chested woman to exercise and improve her ability to carry the weight is about as effective as telling any other patient to lose weight. They just don't do it, and they're more likely to change doctors until they find one who tells them what they want to hear. What they want is an easy fix to their problems that don't involve putting forth effort.

And no, it's not really a cosmetic surgery. At least not in the way we consider most cosmetic surgeries. For those women who really need it for extreme back pain it's tantamount to liposuction surgery. For those who do it for emotional reasons (like Ariel did) it's a body dysmorphia issue that should be treated by a psychologist first.

She doesn't feel better in her skin now than she did before, she's just looking to achieve the same attention she had before because she realizes she made a mistake and wants to prove to herself she's still sexy. She was pretty confident in her skin before, but she didn't have a desire to show off unnecessarily. A lot of what she does now is textbook female adolescent over-compensation. What most girls calls "finding themselves", which if you haven't figured out yet, is complete bullshit.

I never had much of an issue with mine. I've had back pain, but probably no more than most other people. I wonder how many women in my position blame their breasts for their back pain, but they really have the same amount of back pain as everyone else. After all, back pain is common. It's mostly caused by the extreme inactivity of people these days.

I did gymnastics and many other sports since I was very young, so I was in good shape by the time my breasts even became a factor. So I never had an issue carrying them around.

I hate seeing someone in my position get a reduction. I can understand it in extreme cases, but I think their situation is often exaggerated because they're not determined to exercise and diet. And doctors are all too willing to go ahead with reductions rather than recommend healthy living. It's sad. You've been given a gift and you've chosen to shun it because you're too lazy to maintain your body.

I had to look her up. I'm not familiar with her, but it makes sense. You'd be sadly surprised how often this sort of thing happens. Everyone assumes it's the same as how an overweight woman might be more confident after a liposuction surgery and begin showing off. But it's not like Ariel wasn't showing off before. Outside of public events she still dressed sexy, just a very casual sexy. Like tight tee shirts and tiny athletic shorts. So she wasn't really uncomfortable with her body and she knew she was sexy.
