my mom came over to visit after her vacation and we walked for over three hours about all sorts of things. her vacation, our past, my childhood etc.

oh yeah, i loved warcraft lore too, but WoW tended to fuck with it too much. now in this expansion pretty much everyone is losing their "plot armor" meaning that major lore characters are no longer invincible and a LOT of them are dying off. that made things pretty interesting.

Absolutely amazing, and special. The amount of trolls that were converted to friendlies was really something, and now I often enjoy talking to shitposters and trolls on boards and seeing if I can start asking them about their day and such. It's amazing how many will answer and have a nice conversation with you. I think the biggest thing I've learned from /cara/ on /r9k/ was that shitposters are just doing it mostly for the lulz, so, if you just start talking to them normally, about 50% (maybe mroe) will go right into a regular conversation with you and it can be quite nice and enjoyable for both parties.

Yeah, I don't think I'll ever forget it either. It also really changed the way I conduct myself on 4chan now, and what I think is possible to do. It's amazing how a bit of friendliness can change a threads culture.

to be fair, i was stuck in that sort of "they must be really fucked up or something" mindset for quite a while too.
i found out about 4chan i think somewhere around early 2008 and i just assumed that the website's reputation precedes the people here.
it was easy for me to do that because i was a kid and "4chan" to me was just /b/, but once i got an actual interest in the site and saw how many facets there actually are to it, that binary thinking just went out the window for me.

Yeah considering it is just him, he keeps them bumped and has a very unique posting style. Seems like every day, but, like you, I don't go on /r9k/ as much anymore. I'm trying to avoid it. On one hand sometimes I feel at home there, but, at other times it feels pretty toxic to me and I'm really trying to get out of my depression. it seemed like he got a taste of F1 success and he just couldn't handle it somehow.

i never really looked at it as a home. i've had very bad experienced before where i just wanted to give up and resign myself to the status of being forever socially fucked, but ultimately i made myself understand that it simply can't work that way. i value /r9k/ mostly as just a platform of individual ideas about all sorts of topics, and it's very refreshing to hear how other people percieve things that might seemingly be non-issues to most other people. not to mention, once in a while there's that profoundly wise post that you can't help but feel like you're missing out on. god knows how many of those i've come across.

Yeah keeping a great sleeping schedule helps so much. I do that too now. Same time every night (if I can - most nights I can), wake up same time (regardless of what time I go to sleep).
