I managed to get with someone who was already into kink. Salander is pretty much a Mary Sue, so very very special a snowflake. Whatever reasons Larson had for writing her like that, that's what the end result was.
Blomquist or whatever his name is, I keep associating him with the Astrid Lindgren character, was what turned me off from reading the book properly. At least at the start the exposition was horrible.
